Lip filler in Margate
Lip filler uses a gel-based dermal filler to add definition, shape or balance to the lips. At SM Aesthetics Clinic, each plan starts with your own lip shape and aims for a natural, balanced look rather than a set amount of product.
Lip filler appointments take place at our Margate clinic, welcoming clients from Broadstairs, Ramsgate, Canterbury and across East Kent. Plan your visit to the clinic.
Sian completed Foundation Dermal Filler training with Serene Skin on 17 March 2022. Ask about the training and experience relevant to lip treatment at your consultation. Meet Sian and read about her training. For filler on other areas, see dermal fillers.
Swelling and bruising are common at first. Allow time before judging the shape.

What you can discuss
- A clearer lip border or more definition
- Shape and balance between the upper and lower lip
- A subtle increase in fullness
- Topping up or reviewing previous lip filler
- Whether a smaller amount, a staged plan or no treatment suits you better
Products used
Sian’s filler range includes Revolax, Aessoa, STYLAGE and Restylane. The exact product and formulation for your lips are chosen after assessment, taking into account your lip shape, any previous treatment and what you would like to achieve.
Ask which product is proposed and why, whether it contains an anaesthetic, and how long it is expected to last for you. Brand names alone do not tell you whether a product is suitable. Availability and the full cost are confirmed before you decide.

Is lip filler right for you?
Lip filler may be an option for adults who would like to discuss lip definition, shape or balance. The starting point is your own lips: their proportions, how they move and how they sit with the rest of your face. A consultation can separate a concern that filler may address from one that suits a different approach, such as lip blush for colour, or no treatment at all.
Bring photographs of looks you like, but treat them as a conversation starter rather than a promise. Explain what you want to keep as well as what you would like to change. You are under no obligation to go ahead on the day.
Choosing an amount
Lip filler is priced by volume: 0.55ml, 0.8ml or 1.1ml. A larger amount is not automatically better. The right amount depends on your starting shape, any filler already present and the change you have agreed. Sian may suggest starting smaller and reviewing, rather than placing more product in one appointment.
If you have had lip filler elsewhere, tell Sian where, when and which product was used, even if you think it has worn off. Previous filler can affect what is appropriate and whether a review or a different plan is needed first.
The appointment
Before any injections, your goals, medical history and previous treatments are reviewed and the plan is agreed with you, including the product, amount and full price. Ask how discomfort is managed and what to expect during treatment. You should understand the plan and have time to ask questions before giving consent.
Allow time for the consultation and the aftercare discussion as well as the treatment itself. You can ask to pause at any point if you need more explanation.
Recovery
Lips often look swollen, and sometimes uneven, for the first few days. Bruising and tenderness are also common. An early photograph is not a reliable picture of the settled result, so avoid judging the shape straight away. Our lip filler recovery guide explains what is usual and when to get in touch.
Discuss work, exercise, travel and any upcoming event before booking, and leave a recovery margin rather than assuming swelling will be invisible. Ask when your lips should be reviewed.
Aftercare and when to get help
Follow the written aftercare you are given. Ask about touching the area, makeup, exercise, heat and alcohol, and when each can be resumed. Do not stop prescribed medicines without advice from an appropriate healthcare professional.
Severe or increasing pain, pale, dusky or mottled skin, or rapidly worsening symptoms after lip filler need urgent assessment: contact the clinic straight away on 07539 784088. Sudden changes in vision, or difficulty breathing, are an emergency: call 999.

Your questions
Treatment FAQs
How much lip filler will I need?
It depends on your starting shape, any previous filler and the change you have agreed. Lip filler is priced at 0.55ml, 0.8ml and 1.1ml, and a larger amount is not automatically better. The amount is agreed with you at consultation.
How much does lip filler cost?
Lip filler is £140 for 0.55ml, £150 for 0.8ml and £160 for 1.1ml. A consultation comes first, and the exact cost is confirmed before treatment.
How long does lip filler swelling last?
Swelling is often most noticeable in the first few days, and lips can look uneven while it settles. Recovery varies between people, so follow your aftercare and ask when your lips should be reviewed.
Can I have lip filler before an event?
Discuss the date before booking. Swelling and bruising are possible, so leave the recovery margin advised for you rather than expecting an immediate settled result.
How long does lip filler last?
It depends on the product, the amount and your own body. Ask about the expected duration for your specific plan rather than relying on a universal number.
What is the difference between lip filler and lip blush?
Lip filler adds shape or fullness with an injected gel. Lip blush is semi-permanent makeup that adds colour and definition to the lip border without changing volume. Some clients consider one, both or neither, and Sian can talk through which suits your goal.
